Hello FarPastPost listeners,

Welcome to our very last podcast episode!

Unlike all of our other episodes, this one will not feature new music. Instead we’re going to delve into the songs that inspired me to start FarPastPost over 10 years ago.

I have been listening to “post-rock” bands since the late 90’s, but wasn’t aware of the genre until the early-to-mid 2000’s. When I started the FarPastPost radio show in December of 2006 I only had a few dozen bands to rotate through. And the podcast version of the show didn’t exist until 2009. So this week’s episode includes tracks that are absent from the 400+ podcast library. All tracks featured in this 4 1/2 hour playlist were released between 1998 and early 2007.

This is not a best-of list. In fact many of these bands have released their best work after 2007, but those tracks have already been featured in previous episodes. This final episode features the tracks that blew my mind in the 6 or 7 years years prior to the decision to start FarPastPost.

By necessity and desire there are many great bands and songs excluded, including some of my favorite music of all time. So remember, this is not meant to introduce you to new bands, or to declare the greatest work of a band’s career. More than anything this is a cathartic exercise for me to share my post-rock beginnings with those of you who have enjoyed FarPastPost over the past 10 years.

Thanks for the many years of support and encouragement.

Sincerely

Mike
