In last Saturday's Irish Times Guy Hedgecoe interviewed Jason Coghlan, an English former criminal turned 'legal advisor' to English speakers dwelling in the south of Spain, some of whom are Irish, and some of whom are involved in organised crime. Why do career criminals flock to that region in such numbers? It's not just the weather, Guy tells us. The problems posed by globalisation must be faced up to by its leaders and proponents.
