The fossil fuel industry has known about climate change for half a century. It has also known that the burning of fossil fuels drives climate change, and that public understanding of this fact would be bad for business. So rather than acknowledging the reality of the climate crisis, Big Oil took a different tact – it actively spread misinformation. Thankfully, activists are doing all they can to hold the industry accountable.

Terra Verde host and Earth Island Journal Managing Editor Zoe Loftus-Farren discusses climate disinformation and the effort to set the climate record straight with Richard Wiles, Executive Director of the Center for Climate Integrity, Kathy Mulvey, accountability campaign director with the Union of Concerned Scientists’ Climate and Energy Program, and Duncan Meisel, Director of the Clean Creatives campaign.
