This Good News interview is with award-winning author Carole Boston Weatherford who is the dean of Black young reader's non-fiction. She has written over 60 award winning books. This year she won an American Library Association Newbery Honor and another one of her books on Aretha Franklin got a Coretta Scott King award.

We are talking about her latest book Unspeakable: The Tulsa Race Massacre. This book is for young readers and like all of her books written in a language that help children understand historical sensitive events in the proper context.

Black Wall Street in Unspeakable: The Tulsa Race Massacre. The first of its kind, this picture book is a testament to the people who perished and those who survived one of the worst incidents of racial violence in our nation’s history.
