In this episode, we'll explore the hype around Hogwarts Legacy and how the views of controversial figure - JK Rowling - have led to increased marketing and play of the game, as well as what happened to Twitch streamers who tried to play it but were essentially bullied not to.

The release of the highly anticipated game, Hogwarts Legacy, has been met with both hype and backlash. The game was released for early access in late 2022 to much fanfare and excitement. And officially released on February 10, 2023.

But, with that excitement came a lot of controversy surrounding the game's creator JK Rowling - (and I use that term loosely) because the game studio Avalanche Software has even stated that J.K. Rowling was not involved in the creation of the game.

Her stance on women's rights and trans rights has caused a lot of activism and backlash online for the game.

I cover the hype and why "cancel culture" often does the opposite of what it's intended to do.
