On this episode of Cigars and Sea Stories, Bennett and Mike discuss knives. They each serve a purpose; survival, fighting, fillet, cleaver, skinning, pering. This episode starts with the basics -- the KABAR. Generations of Marines have carried the trusty blade. These multipurpose fighting/survival knives have developed into a standard issue bayonet attachment. The KABAR is great for war but doesn’t do very well in the woods.
Fall is deer hunting season and another opportunity to get outdoors for some fun. Both Mike and Bennett are avid outdoorsmen. Mike takes pride in the family trade of butchering, which has been handed down through the generations. From hunting, stalking, and killing to gutting, skinning and quartering the deer, Mike does it all at the house. The task calls for a serious set of knives and the know how to put them to good use.
