Mindful Leadership & The Angry Manager Angry business owners with poor coping skills. I’ve seen it countless times. Employees and vendors walking on eggshells. Everyone waiting for the next shoe to drop. It's bad Juju, which results in low morale and high turnover. Most of the angry leaders I have coached are actually really good human beings. But then “the thing” happens, whatever the trigger might be, and off to the races we go. The key is to move from a place of reacting to a place of calmly observing and solving. Mindful leadership focuses on doing the right thing, the effective thing, versus the impulsive thing, the quick fix thing. Mindful leadership trades out strong emotions for calm resolve. The focus becomes getting to the truth and making progress. Mindful leadership focuses on the fuel (the causes) not the fire. This is MASSIVELY important to understand. Your primary role as a mindful leader is to bring calm to the storm. And to do that in a way that solves problems and builds morale. Trade out anger for wisdom. Trade out power for purpose. Walk the calm walk. Be the quiet warrior that always prevails. Whatever the present moment contains, accept it as if you had chosen it. -Eckhart Tolle
