Malin Sävstam förlorade sin man Mats och barnen, åttaåriga Elsa och Harald tolv år, i tsunamin annandag jul 2004. Hon överlevde mirakulöst och tillsammans med då 15-årige sonen Axel sattes hon på flyget till Sverige, för att försöka bearbeta sorgen och gå vidare. I Malins program får vi höra om katastrofen, saknaden och hur man bygger ett nytt liv med en så stor sorg i bagaget. Malin Sävstam är uppväxt i Borås men bor nu i Stockholm där hon arbetar på reklambyrå. Hon är också föreläsare och författare till boken "När livet stannar".
