We are not in a slow down, we are not in a recession we are probably moving into a period of boom. This time around there is more private money in the system and more vehicles to move investment around different sectors. Right now in the UK, we have a shortfall of hundreds of thousands of houses each year, it’s supply and demand. This is due to the changes in what determines a household. No longer does a household contain the nuclear family, the of a household has changed over time. Due to the ageing baby boomer population, there is a demand for more housing. This demographic is closing in on retirement and as a result are purchasing more property, such as one bedroom flats.
