On this weeks show Maine and Emil talk tons of news followed by recapping this weekend in professional grappling and BJJ.
Kicking off the show with news we talk about where Keenan is ending up and him registering under Globetrotters for IBJJF worlds. We talk about Carpe Diem donating a Sumo banner, and Josh getting announced for the upcoming SAGC. We also talk about Tayane Porfirio 4 year retroactive ban for steroid use, and the implications of what matchups may still be available. We talk about the return of Kennedy Maciel from his arm injury earlier this year and his win this weekend at the San Diego IBJJF open. Then touch on BJ Penn's release from the UFC.
Then we cap off news a short recap of Ben Askren Vs Jordan Burroughs and talk about tech falls, and how murderous Burroughs double leg is.
Then we get into the recap section of the show with Fight to Win 112 in Fresno, CA headlined by Gabriel Arges and Matheus Diniz. We break down Victor Hugo Cervantes cool Texas Cloverleaf, talk about Cole Franson Armbar. Then in the Brown Belts we get into some team no sleep action with Troy Everett and Dan Dykeman. Then talk about how good Josh Cisneros looks in his first Brown Belt title match, off his submission of the year in 2018 back at Purple Belt. Maine and Emil also get very excited at the multiple camera angles of the Albert Tapia vs Ray Yescas heel hook finish that deserved fight of the night for the Brown Belts.
In our recap of Submission Underground 8 we kick it off talking about Craig Jones 9-12 second Toe Hold victory over the most famous man to ever wear a speedo Dennis Hallman. Then we get into the rest of the main card with Jake Shields taking the SUG title. Jake Ellenberger vs Diego Sanchez in a very impressive match from Diego, SUG vetran and Chael Sonnen coach Fabiano Scherner vs Matt Mitrione, and what was runner up for fight of the night on the card Gilbert Melendez vs Pat Healy in a high paced match in regulation. We briefly touch on the tag team BJJ matches.
After that we recap and that is being used in the loosest sense of the word the 2019 ADCC Asian and Oceanic Trials. This event was not broadcast anywhere we could find, and even results were difficult to turn up. But we did what we could and went through all the winners who earned their spot to the 2019 ADCC World Championships.
We move into the previews section as things get a little quiet before 2019 iBJJF World Championships. As always Fight to Win comes through to showcase some fun and high level matchups. We preview Fight to Win 113 in some place that was later determined to be Reno Nevada. Headlined by new black belt star Kaynan Duarte carrying the Atos flag, vs long time black belt competitor Tanner Rice. On the co main we have Amanda Monteiro vs Karen Antunes, and 185lbs Brown Belt No-Gi Masters Title between Vince Barbosa and Troy Everett Night Pigeon.
