After a three-week absence, the TigerTalk podcast returns to the airwaves with episode 101 as host Will Kollmeyer welcomes Northeast instructional technology specialist and project manager for the college's Career Development Academy Jeffrey Powell and CDA academic advisor Austin Beasley to talk about the Career Development Academy. Powell and Beasley discuss some of the accomplishments of the CDA, how the Career Development Academy has changed the lives of the youth in the Northeast five-county service area -- Alcorn, Prentiss, Tippah, Tishomingo and Union. In the middle portion of the podcast, Kollmeyer welcomes the college's Cultural Arts Committee chair Dr. Amy Langley to the podcast to discuss all the programming that the Cultural Arts Committee has planned for the 2020 Spring semester including its Black History Month celebration that happened on Monday, February 10 when former Northeast social, behavioral and applied sciences division head Carla Falkner returned to Northeast to give a presentation on "First Steps to Freedom: Corinth Contraband Experience." Northeast head softball coach Jody Long bats clean up on the podcast as he steps to the plate for a preview on the 2020 softball team and the opening of the new Field of Dreams complex. Long talks about his time with the Northeast softball team and all the positive responses he has received since the complex officially opened on Saturday, February 1. Northeast's softball coach also discusses the impact that the new facility has had on his players and how he received over 500 calls, texts and social media messages talking about the NEMCC Baseball/Softball Complex. Between the segments, Kollmeyer gives a rundown of events that are happening in the next 10 days and also mentions a few events to be on the lookout for later in the month.
