The Premier League has been won by its most unpredictable champion, so, naturally, it's a good time to look back on our oh-so-prescient season predictions from August. How badly did we misjudge Leicester City? How did we see Harry Kane following up his breakout season? Before that, though, we play a wide-ranging game of word association. So much is going on across the soccer landscape, whether it's the Champions League being whittled down to two Madrid sides or Copa America looming on the horizon. We talk some of the biggest names involved in those competitions and beyond to kick off our episode.

When I asked Sean Grogan (@RiseAM_ on Twitter) to be a guest on the podcast, I didn’t know much about Detroit’s soccer scene. But what I learned, and what I hope we highlight in our talk, is that Detroit’s soccer scene is absolutely thriving. No wonder rumors of MLS moving to town are swirling. What big shot billionaire wouldn’t want a piece of this pie? Kudos to the people of Detroit for building something genuine. And kudos to those same people for staying genuine in the midst of the news that a couple of NBA owners are buying their way to the top of the food chain and leap frogging right over what an amazing group of supporters, families, coaches, players, and owners have been building for years. This is an interview with an investor of Detroit City F.C. and a story of how things got started and the state of Detroit soccer today. Enjoy. (13:55) We also ask: was Pep Guardiola's reign at Bayern Munich a success or a failure? (19:15) Later, we look at why Fernando isn't to blame for Manchester City's loss to Real Madrid but Kevin de Bruyne might be. At least a little bit. (26:00) We also answer a listener voicemail about Jermaine Jones and Michael Bradley's positioning (41:00). Also: Daryl now knows he got that Beyonce lyric wrong.

"The image of reinvention, conjuring up some kind of Google-land, can also, while understandably wanting to attract businesses, veer into overstating the case. If this had happened so successfully, this “remarkable economic transformation”; including the outlay of public money to create “sport city”, then hitting the jackpot with Abu Dhabi, why are the areas right around the stadium still mired in England’s worst deprivation?" In Episode Thirty Seven we revisit ‘City and the City’ by David Conn. Looking at the takeover of Manchester City by Sheikh Mansour (and at its previous owner, Thaksin Shinawatra), David places the mega-rich gulf owners' stewardship of the club in the wider economic landscape. What does their ownership of the club mean for the city itself? Why is there still a juxtaposition of investment in sporting facilities in the east of the city while it's still home to some of the most deprived boroughs in the UK? There's also an opportunity for you to win a signed Sergi ...

On this episode your hosts and a special guest talk about the LA Galaxy's road record over the past 4 years and what goes into traveling on the road. The LA Galaxy have had an abysmal road record over the last 4 years. But they've also had one of the best home records. So do fans and media favor road wins too highly? And are the LA Galaxy a better road team this year? Your hosts Josh Guesman and LA Galaxy Insider Adam Serrano dive into the many factors of winning and losing on the road. To help us out, we're joined by FourFourTwo.com's Richard Farley (@RichardFarley). Richard has a wealth of knowledge on the league and the Galaxy's road form woes and he's got some great ideas as to why that is. Maybe Bruce Arena really doesn't value away games? Think of the lineups that he's presented on the road. Think of the different players who've started for the Galaxy. Do all of these things lead to Arena just trying to survive when away from StubHub Center? Together the guys will talk about ...
