IN today’s workplace, people can work almost where they wish. Therefore, corporations must effectively manage Emotional Intelligence (EQ). It is directly proportional to growth and financial wellness.

Ministering in the Spirit and ministering the Word of God are both essential to communicating to the flock that you care for. We need balance in both of these areas!

Transition from the military to the civilian sector is hard enough. But, translation of one’s skills in such a way that they can be clearly comprehended by the HR screeners and those in leadership positions in the private, non-defense sector “get it” makes transition even more difficult.

JC, is a retired O-6 who started his own company and successfully grew that into a multi-state firm. He discusses his transition to the private sector and the focus he and his company use to employ former military members and their families.

Senior HR executive, Eric Johnson, discusses why company branding is so important when recruiting new employees and also in retaining good talent. Eric is a U.S. Naval Academy graduate, retired 0-6, and has extensive experience in the fields of Pharma, BioTech, IT, Health Care, and Defense.

In today’s marketplace, HR plays a critical role in corporations, large and small. The resistance to HR as a significant contributor to company problems continues and resistance by decision makers to include HR in the strategic decisions remains constant, especially in small to mid-cap corporations. This interview offers some solutions to overc ...…

How would Paul be using the internet, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Modern technology provides an incredible array of tools to continue the process of making disciples and developing leaders. How would you envision us best putting these tools to use?

Do we specialize in information and inspiration? What about application? We need all three, does the latter get proper attention in our preparing to preach and teach?

Get the sheep grazing! Reading the Bible for transformation may not mean reading five chapters per day. Instead, it may mean reading slowly. Perhaps spending time with the Bible a paragraph at a time. Some suggestions here to apply the principle

To what degree do pastor/shepherds do most of the thinking for the flock? What happens when you are no longer there to think for them? Suggestion: let the audience interact in the study. We pastor smart people. They can answer questions as well as they can ask them.

Sheep graze! Feeding is ongoing rather than an “experience.” Lions eat one time and lie down for a break. Jesus said, Feed my sheep.”

A "Food Pyramid" for Preaching to Saints is not a bad idea. There are 21 topics I attempt to preach or teach about twice each year. Keeping a record helps me put the right diet before the people. One person who shares my post will receive my book "The Science of Shepherding." I enjoy and respond to comments. Message me to receive a copy of the ...…

Our average audience member's lack of Bible knowledge affects how we are able to preach and teach. Know who you are preaching to. 1. Explaining the context of the scripture is important. "A text used out of context is a pretext." 2. Offer people resources to grow their basic Bible knowledge. Feed the flock what they need!…

Ministry Monday! You need to KNOW that the hand of God is on you. Be strengthened.

Begin 2018 with gentle patience and giving yourself to those you lead. Paul did this in Thessalonica.

Establishing systems is vital for effectiveness. Learn about Jotham who "ordered his ways."

Learn a first step to being fresh in the pulpit! Keep your cupboard full.

Ministry Monday - Criticism comes! Welcome to ministry. Here are suggestions on handling criticism.

Stop Your Merry-Go-Round of Ministerial Guilt! Unrealistic expectations and a "Messianic complex" causes us to assume responsibility for the outcome. Stop! Instead be faithful and let Jesus assume be responsible for the outcome.

Making the best use of what you have to work with is all Jesus asks. Stop feeling intimidated or guilty for not doing more.

Different fields produce different results. Ground repeatedly broken by many gospel messages may produce more than a new field Jesus spoke of 30-fold, 60-fold and 100-fold. If you work in a place that has had little church influence do not compare with someone in a 100-fold field!

Anointed! Sometimes you feel it; other times you don't. Don't let your feelings dictate your position. The oil of anointing is not always fresh, but the anointing lives on!

Don't let money, whether the lack or the love, do your ministry in. Financial pressure derails many ministries. It is not the topic of my Ministry Monday but is a side-bar note. We benefit from ebates from Time to Time.

Ministry families, including children can come under pressure. Here are several steps to protect your kids!

Stress is normal to life and ministry. How you respond to stress will make or break your ministry. Coping skills can be developed.

his may deserve a share. You decide! What is a pastor's job description? To what degree do we spend time on things Jesus never asked? Be clear on the tasks.

Effective pastor/shepherds prioritize how they feed God’s flock. Just as feeding livestock requires planning and intentional behavior, so feeding the Lord’s sheep requires the same! Strategy and intent!

Jesus flock is to be well-fed. Think about this: shepherds don't hand-feed sheep. They lead the sheep to a place where they feed themselves. Hopefully, I am not a "feeding tube" preacher. That is not healthy.

Feed the Sheep - what they need, not what I prefer to serve! Whether my preference is prophecy, lifestyle, types and shadows, Hebrew word study, etc. Even the best baker does not get to serve only cake!

Reduce barriers to communication. The late J.T. Pugh talked of teaching by walking among the congregation with Bible in hand.

Keep your preaching cupboard full! Read and listen! Constantly. Here is a blog with several places to keep the cupboard full.
