Christ in the Book of Job

Christ in the Book of Ruth

Fasting is a means God gives us to find greater intimacy with Him, more life from Him, freedom from bondage, and restoration here on Earth.

Jesus gives us this prayer to teach us how to pray. It is a prayer that we are to pray as well as instruction about how to pray. This series relies on the questions at the end of the Westminster Larger Catechism to examine the meaning of each phrase of the prayer.

In Romans we see how the Gospel is the power of God for salvation from first to last.

Christ is the true Nehemiah who leads His church to repair all that is broken in fulfillment of Isaiah's prophecy that “Your people will rebuild the ancient ruins and will raise up the age-old foundations; you will be called Repairer of Broken Walls, Restorer of Streets with Dwellings.”

Palm Sunday, Good Friday, and Easter Sermons

We explore "the sign of Jonah" and how this book relates to Jesus' life, death, and resurrection.

Matthew breaks tradition by listing five women in Jesus' geneaology. These were Tamar, Rahab, Ruth, Bathsheba, and Mary. All five of these women made choices which marked them as having questionable sexual morals. Since I had recently preached through the Book of Ruth, we looked at Tamar, Rahab, and Bathsheba for our Advent series.

Sermons by Greg Cook in front of New River Presbytery.

Philemon shows us how the Gospel brings justice in a society and healing to individuals and relationships.

God speaks to and teaches His people through the wilderness. As we live between the time of being rescued from bondage and the time when we will enter Paradise, we learn to depend wholly on God.

The Gospel of Mark highlights the things Jesus did. Old Testament prophets often performed symbolic actions to emphasize God's message. Mark shows us how Jesus fulfilled God's law and Israel's history through His deeds.

This is a book of profound wisdom. Unfortunately, many read it against the grain trying to read beneath what they consider cynicism. Ecclesiastes reorients us to what real wisdom is and isn't.

In 2 Timothy 3:15-17 NASB “and that from childhood you have known the sacred writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for e

It’s my job to make people study whether they really want to or not. And so when Thomas asked me to preach on the concept of “study,” I thought it made sense. At the Seminary, I do have a reputation of sorts. Apparently, it’s difficult to pass my classes. But if I’m to have any reputation, I could have done worse. So I agreed to the task of pre ...…

Pastor’s Note In Joshua 21:45 we are reminded again that all we are reading in these Old Testament chapters is a testament to God’s faithfulness —“Not one word of all the good promises that the Lord had made to the house of Israel had failed; all came to pass.” We count on the God who keeps his promises. From his promise that in the end he will ...…
