When he was 19 years old, he served in the 1st Marine Division: 1st Battalion: 7th Marine Regiment: B Company during the Korean War. He received a purple heart during the 1950 conflict in the Chosen Reservoir. He served as a pastor in Mesquite, Texas; Kim and Boulder, Colorado; Rock Springs, Wyoming; Paris, Texas and Swink, Colorado.
