Common Good is an NPO based in the city of Cape Town, South Africa. We hope this podcast can be used as a discipleship tool in equipping and encouraging Christ-followers to seek the shalom of the city. As an organisation, we focus on making a positive and lasting impact in the areas of early life, education and employment, so that individuals and communities across the city can build brighter futures for themselves.

The Frederick Faith Debate is designed to be an open an honest forum for local faith community leaders to share and discuss their views of the truth. Lady Bird Johnson once said, “the clash of ideas is the sound of freedom”. In that spirit, the show seriously wrestles with important ideas… the participant often disagreeing with one another. The hope is that through this wrestling a better understanding of the truth will develop with regards to the most important issues facing the world.

Today I am going to break from our regular sermon series in Mark to do a message pertaining to the birth of Christ. I often preach special sermons on subjects that pertain to matters that are on everyone's mind -matters like the virus, Christmas, Easter, or a calamity-. However, as we have some new people with us, I want to explain something to you…

In this final advent sermon of 2020 Tony brings our focus on the peace that Jesus came to bring. Shalom. Maybe one of the most important words, concepts and gifts in all of the Bible. Jesus is shalom who came to bring shalom. Shalom is a much deeper term than just peace, rest and serenity. It is all of those things, but more. It is rich and beautif…

Q. 39 What is the duty which God requireth of man---A. The duty which God requireth of man is obedience to His revealed will.--Three things to note about our duty- It is a duty that is required. Both the Catechism and our passage in Micah say it is required. This ought to be obvious to you, but too often it is not. You are sorely mistaken if you th…

Today we will continue our sermon series in the Gospel of Mark. We will look at the first five verses of Mark 15 where Mark tells us about Jesus' trial before Pilate, the Roman governor -or prefect- of Judea. All four gospels give us their account of Jesus' examination by Pilate, but interestingly, Mark, who usually likes to supply many details, ha…

Knowing the Bible for Yourself (Pt. 8) It seems an absurd question to ask, how one should read historical narrative since we do it intuitively all the time. In picking up a biography to read or a story in the newspaper, we are naturally handling material that would rightly be defined as historical narrative and yet we do it effortlessly without thi…

And in the midst of everything be always giving thanks, for this is God’s perfect plan for you in Christ Jesus. - 1 Thessalonians 5:18 (TPT) Let everyone give all their p…

Luke 2:25-35 The great predicament of man, is his pride and rebellion; stubbornness is what keeps Him from serving God—He can have it no other way than his own. Simply put, He refuses to have a God that will meddle with His affairs, and until that man is first broken, he will rise in newness of life. You know, the Church today has lost sight of the…

In our sermon series on Mark's Gospel, we have come to the time of the crucifixion of Christ and of His resurrection on the third day. This being so, I want to present to you a new Psalm of Focus which we will sing from every week until we finish Mark. The Psalm I have chosen is Psalm 22 which I will preach from today. Psalm 22 is the Psalm the cro…

We might feel mired in difficulty as we head into a new year hoping for new beginnings. The Christian message promises new beginnings, and these blessings came about after (and because of) days that were mired in difficulty. This show holds reminders of this teaching, drawing attention to the tail end of the Gospel narrative recorded for us in the …
