Kiyomizu-dera Temple, one of Kyoto's World Heritage Sites, is the most popular destination in the Old Capital. Built into the side of a hill, the temple offers stunning views of the surroundings from its huge outdoor wooden verandah area. The temple complex includes about 30 structures such as the main hall (National Treasure) and Jishu Shrine. There is a water fall in the temple compounds called Otowa Waterfall. It is divided into three smaller waterfalls each of which has special blessings: good health, luck and longevity.
