Dr. B.G. Stephens, a chemist and former college administrator, discusses his research on the history of religion, specifically Christianity and those faiths that intersect with it, including Judaism and Islam. He agreed to teach an adult Sunday School class in his Methodist Church and began the research that he outlines here. Using a timeline from the beginnings of Christianity up until today, he discusses the interesting stories and facts he’s uncovered. Accompanied by his son, Adam Stephens, he tells these stories using the timeline as a framework, but goes off on many interesting tangents along the way. His style is to explain what was going on while adding in his own philosophies. Ever candid, and at times controversial, he leaves nothing on the table. B.G. spent his career teaching chemistry, serving as Academic Dean, and later as Vice President of Technology for Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC. He was also named as President of MacMurray College in the 1980s and served there in Jacksonville, IL for six years, starting the college’s football program that went undefeated in their inaugural season.
