Robert Schumann kennt man vor allem als Komponisten, er war aber ebenso Literat. 1834 gründete Schumann seine Neue Zeitschrift für Musik und setzte als Rezensent und Musikwissenschaftler neue Maßstäbe, vor allem durch seine scharfsinnige, aber immer poetische Kritik und seinen Einsatz für Neues und Zukunftsträchtiges. So erkannte er sehr früh das Genie von Künstlern wie Chopin, Brahms oder Schubert und berichtete über sie. "Robert Schumann - Kritiker und Prophet" ist eine Koproduktion mit SWR2. Die Schumann-Texte liest der Schauspieler Matthias Brandt.
