Yesterday, Pragya Thakur created a political controversy when she called Mahatma Gandhi’s assassin Nathuram Godse a ‘patriot’. Thakur’s remarks were severely criticized by the Congress and BJP quickly went into damage control. Thakur later apologized and said that the remark was her personal opinion. But this is not the first time that a politician has called Godse a patriot. It has happened before. In the recent past, in fact. For our first segment, Amrita Dutta, who writes on literature and contemporary culture for the Indian Express, talks about when that was and why Godse still resonates with those on the extreme Right. Next, Pranav Mukul explains why the promoters of IndiGo airline are at loggerheads and how this is likely to affect the company (9:06). And last, Vishnu Varma talks about a strange copyright dispute between the American giant Sony Music Entertainment and a host of YouTubers and social media videographers (13:40).
