What if viewers were watching a movie of your life so far. Would they be glued to their seats because of the excitement and scenes of victory? Or would they walk out in boredom? Here’s a process for directing the movie of your life that would be captivating – and inspiring.

Episode #677 August 16, 2019

Hi, this is Dan Miller – and yes you’re listening to the 48 Days Radio show – where each week we take 48 minutes to dive into real life questions about finding your passion, deciding what kind of life you want to live – and then finding or creating work that allows you to show up every day, excited to be able to do something that is meaningful, fulfilling – and profitable. This is where normal, indecision and ambiguity come to die. Welcome to the 48 Days Radio Show.

“If my life were a movie, I’d get up and walk out in the first 10 minutes.”

Questions:

1. Is the movie of your life so far interesting enough that anyone would want to watch it?

2. If not, what could you do to make it more interesting?

Quotation:

“Life's like a movie, write your own ending. Keep believing, keep pretending.” Jim HensonClick To Tweet

“Your life is a movie. You are the main character. You say your scripts and act to your lines. Of course you do your lines in each scene. There is a hidden camera and a director who you can ask for help anytime up above.”

From Donald Miller’s Storybrand:

Every movie plot unfolds like this: A character has a problem. Then meets a guide that gives him a plan and calls him to action. That action either results in a success or a failure.

Dr. Phil says you can trace your life to 3 factors:

  • 10 defining moments
  • 7 critical choices
  • 5 pivotal people

Hear more about the scene’s in Dan’s life— some of those defining moments, critical choices and pivotal people.

Here’s a process for building any “scene” in the movie of your life:

  1. What was happening in your life – what did you want?
  2. What was the problem you encountered – how did you first respond?
  3. Who did you meet, what book did you read, what event did you attend, that helped you come up with possible solutions?
  4. What plan of action did you choose?
  5. What would have happened if you had chosen another plan or no action?
  6. How did that action help make you the person you are today?
  7. What is a new challenge – and opportunity you’re having right now?
