Expertly-curated progressive politics, news and culture produced by leftist humans, not algorithms or A.I.. This is an award-winning podcast that dives deeply on a wide range of national, international and local issues facing society and governments. We draw from hundreds of sources of progressive news and commentary. Est. 2006. Best of the Left is deeply concerned about the environment, advocating for sustainable economics and policies that combat climate chaos as well as progressive economic policies that promote a more equitable economic system. We support labor unions, higher wages, cooperative ownership and universal support programs like Medicare For All while being critical of the precarious and exploitative gig economy which is just the modern day version of gilded-age tactics to atomize the workers and destroy solidarity. Intersectional feminism is a cornerstone, which we in no way see as being at odds with promoting economic interests. Challenging the patriarchy, advocating for abortion rights and fighting for anti-racism and LGBTQ rights are both of social and economic interest. We are critical of the corrupting influence of money in politics. We advocate for election integrity, oppose the undemocratic mechanisms of the Electoral College, gerrymandering and the filibuster. We prioritize public education and are critical of charter schools and home school initiatives, which we see as part of a broader agenda to privatize education. We support comprehensive, sex-positive education, critical race theory, and are opposed to "Patriotic Education" initiatives that we believe whitewash history. We advocate for more humane immigration policies, including asylum rights. We are generally critical of U.S. foreign policy, particularly military interventions. We call for a more diplomatic and multilateral approach to international relations. In the tech world, We are concerned about issues like surveillance capitalism and the influence of social media on public discourse. We are also skeptical of emerging technologies like AI and crypto, questioning who controls these technologies and to what end. But most importantly, we recognize that our views will always continue to evolve and that anything we held to be true in the past may be revised or entirely replaced in the future. This can feel destabilizing which is why so many resist changing their views but when you see that revising opinions are part of the process of growth, it simply becomes part of the natural process of taking in new information.
