There are many buzzwords thrown around the fitness industry these days. Words like: inclusive, empowering and authentic. Don’t get me wrong, these are important characteristics to create a positive training space. However, it seems like they are often being used as a sale tool instead of an actual belief system. In the same vein, the use of Body Positive and Body Positivity are gaining visibility. These are huge concepts that deserve much attention. Yet, as you’ll hear from me in this podcast, they are much more difficult to wrap your head around. With that, it’s extra distressing when the notion of body positivity is used flippantly as a sales mechanism. Team Fury’s own Coach Meg Hopkins (Fury Industries, Thrive Tribe Movement) opens my eyes and melts my brain with our discussion about her role as body positive ally, battling her eating disorder, the true heart and message behind the movement and how common words, reactions and expectations in fitness can be damaging to some. 88 episodes in and this is the one that had me questioning my own thought process the most. That’s what I love about doing this show. It constantly reminds me that I don’t have all the answers. You can learn more about Meg, Fury Industries and Thrive Tribe Movement at: Website: http://www.fury-industries.com and www.thrivetribemvmt.com Instagram: @furyindustries, @thrivetribemovement and @movementbymeg Want to train with Meg, Fury and the team?
