Dealing With Mental Health As A Woman
Manage episode 218765614 series 2359472
Welcome to Adventuring the Girl Life, where we believe life for every girl should be well-lived.
Today’s Topic: Let’s talk about women and mental health.
We celebrate World Mental Health Day every 10th of October for mental health education and awareness and I’m very happy with the progress throughout the years… especially on what I see on social media, what a change of scene – from thinking it as taboo to fully embracing it. We’ve really come a long way.
So, in today’s Adventuring the Girl Life episode, I share my own stories which I hope you could all get something from. I’ve struggled with anxiety since I was a kid. I’ve racked my brains for certain memories that I could share to you, and believe me, there’s a lot so make sure to listen in. I’ve got stories from having panic attacks because of a car breakdown to getting anxious after my 3 miscarriages in the span of 2 years. It was hard. I’ve sought professional help. I’ve taken meds. I’ve done everything I needed to do and I’m very happy I did.
If you’d ask me in the past what’s going on with my life, I’d probably divert the conversation or not respond at all. I used to think that this is a part of me that should be kept in the deepest and darkest nook of my life. But, I do think that to help other women out there, I have to share my story. We’re all different. It doesn’t matter if you’ve got no problems. Learning to be sensitive on how to communicate and deal with them is a great deal for them. So, I hope you do what you gotta do! And, I hope you enjoy and learn a lot from this episode!
Crowns and Flops: Expect the unexpected!
Flops: My latest flop of the week happened while I was on a lunch date with my friend. At first, I was very happy that the plan which I scheduled push through. I was thinking that I will have a fun chit-chat and finally get to treat her for lunch at last! But, well… when it was time to pay the bill, I found out that my wallet was not on me. For those who are viewing how cheapskate this move is, hold your horses. My wallet was two parking lots away so there was no way to make run for it. My friend ended up treating me instead. Ultimate fail. Well, I promise to treat her next time!
Crowning Moment: My husband and I use a lot of electronics for all kinds of activity. In our fitness activities, for example, we each own heartbeat monitors and Bluetooth headphones. But while I was on a run once, I discovered that my heartbeat monitor is wigging out. And to add to that, my headphones died. So, I decided to go to Allen and borrow his but discovered both are also not working for him. Very frustrating indeed!
Now, here’s the light at the end of that dreadful tunnel, I found out that our heartbeat monitors and my headphones are still on warranties! So, we were able to steer clear of expensive service repairs. What a luck!
