Meet Christopher Parker

Christopher Parker is an Auckland-based author who has recently self-published his debut novel, The Lighthouse, a story he spent ten years developing and writing. Christopher lives with his daughter in sunny Takapuna, a beachside suburb in Auckland, New Zealand.

Writing was always a passion growing up, but the hobby fell away as he grew older, and it wasn't until he reached his thirties that Christopher considered giving it another go. His first novel, "The Lighthouse" started with just a fragment of an idea and not much else, and he gave himself three months to see how far he could get trying to turn that idea into a novel.

He was, admittedly, very naïve about the process and completely unprepared for what lay ahead. His first draft took three years to write, and when he reached the end, it was pretty evident that it wasn't written to a high enough standard. But Christopher was still passionate about the story he wanted to tell, so he went back to page one and started again.

Almost a decade after he typed his first words, his novel is finally out in the big wide world.
