According to Variety reporter Justin Kroll, Warner Bros. is considering pushing a new DC film into production this year in order to have two films in theatres by 2018. With Aquman now set for a December 2018 release and The Batman delayed, the studio is looking at the female-centric Gotham City Sirens, Green Lantern Corps, Justice League Dark, and Suicide Squad 2 as possible releases. The two possible contenders to hit first are Suicide Squad 2 and maybe even Green Lantern Corps.

Last week it was reported that Warner Bros was putting a new Matrix reboot into development. Now, according to sources with Birth.Movie.Death, one idea Warner Bros is in support of is actually a prequel film starring Michael B. Jordan as a young Morpheus.

It’s Monday which means it’s time for the weekend box office report. Disney's live-action remake of Beauty and the Beast shattered expectations and opened to summer blockbuster numbers with $170 million and No 1 at the box office for its weekend debut. Coming in at No 2 was WB and Legendary's Kong: Skull Island with $28.85 million, dropping 53% from its solid opening weekend last week. Logan took the No 3 spot with $17.5 million as its domestic total climbs to just shy of $185 million. Universal's Get Out finished in the No 4 spot with $13.2 million as its domestic total now stands at $133 million. And in the No 5 spot was Lionsgate's The Shack; pulling in $6.1 million for a $42.6 million domestic total.

In an exclusive interview with LRM, David Ellison from Skydance Productions has revealed they have hired writer Zach Dean to pen a new script for Star Blazers; a movie based on the Japanese anime show that ran for three seasons from 1979 to 1984.

Thanks to an Instagram post from Mission Impossible 6 writer/director Christopher McQuarrie Superman himself, Henry Cavill, has joined the cast of the upcoming sixth movie in the franchise. McQuarrie marks the first Mission: Impossible director to helm two movies in the franchise, signing on to write and helm part 6 after the huge success of Rogue Nation.

We haven’t yet seen a trailer for The Dark Tower but now we have the first poster to give us an idea of what to expect. Taking to his Twitter account, Stephen King unveiled the poster accompanied by the message: "Pilgrim, there are other worlds than these. Come with us on the adventure." Nikolaj Arcel is directing the movie which stars Idris Elba as Roland Deschain and Matthew McConaughey as Walter Padick AKA the Man in Black.
