Summary

In our fourth episode we explore the virtue of temperance and how it relates to scarcity of tools, materials, and space in woodworking. Temperance is the moral virtue that moderates the attraction of pleasures and provides balance in the use of created goods. It ensures the will’s mastery over instincts and keeps desires within the limits of what is honorable. The temperate person directs the sensitive appetites toward what is good and maintains a healthy discretion. By embracing scarcity, we can both prevent intemperance and learn to use what we have well.

Thanks to our awesome listeners who chimed in on last Episode’s challenge, especially Corey Morgan (@coreymorganwoodworks).
