In recent years scientists have discovered over 430 exoplanets, or planets that revolve around sun-like stars. While no Earth-like planet has been found, recent discoveries confirm an early SETI hypothesis that a significant percentage of stars in our galaxy should have orbiting planets around them. But discovering a planet that has the potential to support life or receiving an extraterrestrial signal raises another important question: Is it possible to quickly travel across the universe? This lecture series features three important areas of scientific research in the quest for intelligent life in the universe: the search for habitable exoplanets, SETI research, and the theory of time travel.
