As we continue our survey of Bach's sonatas for violin and keyboard I want to be sure we also pay attention to the third and fundamental voice in the texture, the left-hand, or bass voice.

Most telling is how the bass line--in terms of motivic structure and especially rhythm--plays a role in the melodic voices.
