Bible: 2 Kings 3; 2 Thessalonians 2:1-10
Length: 28 min. (64kbps)
Overview: Jehoshaphat was a good king, yet he had his flaws -like we all do-. He is in the company men who do not fear God. The wicked king of the northern nation of Israel is the leader of this particular group - Jehoshaphat is just along to help out. They get into trouble, and because of godly Jehoshaphat, help is sought from the prophet Elisha. Elisha tells the wicked king of Israel- 'If it were not that I regard Jehoshaphat, I wouldn't even look at you.' The presence of godly Jehoshaphat had a preserving effect on the others. So it has been with our nation. The presence of God's Spirit, working through God's people - as flawed as we might be, and the principles of God's Word has had a preserving effect on our society. Now there are those in power who seek the removal of the very thing God has used over the years to hold back the spirit of lawlessness. As a result we are experiencing a crumbling of our shield of protection. People wonder why there are such things as mass killings. Many are looking for something to blame it all on, when in reality they themselves are in large part responsible. This message deals -in part- with why we are seeing the change taking place in society.
