With the ISIS-inspired massacre in San Bernadino and support for Presidential candidate Donald Trump’s call to Muslims from entering the United States, Muslim communities once again find themselves at the center of a heated cultural and political climate. Using Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Ayad Akhtar’s Disgraced (now playing at the Huntington Theatre Company) as a point of departure, Basic Black explores what it means to be a Muslim American. Tonight’s panel: - Callie Crossley, Host, Under the Radar with Callie Crossley, WGBH News - Phillip Martin, Senior Reporter, WGBH News - Tahirah Amatul-Wadud, Executive Board Member, Council on American-Islamic Relations, Massachusetts - Saher Selod, Assistant Professor of Sociology, Simmons College - Taymullah Abdur-Rahman, Chaplain, Harvard University Photo: Rashad Abdul-Rahman holds a book at the Atlanta Masjid of Al Islam mosque, Sunday, Aug. 30, 2015, in Atlanta.
