Learning To Step Away From Your Eating Disorder - In Megan's story you will hear a story of freedom to eat, freedom to live outside of being bound by exercise, and the fullness of joy that comes in knowing and seeking after the God who has redeemed by the precious blood of His own beloved Son Jesus.
Remember: These are stories and not health professional prescriptions of how you should go about recovery. They are intended to encourage, but they are not intended to be a substitute for the wisdom of your doctor or health care provider. If you ever need support/prayer please email me at beautyinchrist93@gmail.com.

This is Megan’s story. It’s a reminder of the fact and the truth that is is possible to step away from an eating disorder, no matter how impossible it seems at this moment. Megan’s story is a story of walking away from an ED and coming to a deeper knowledge of the love of God, the forgiveness of God, the beauty we have in Christ Jesus our Savior, and learning to walk towards the great truth of identity and worth we have in the gospel of Jesus Christ.

This song makes me think of each step Megan has taken away from her eating disorder.

Great is thy faithfulness, O God my Father;
there is no shadow of turning with thee;
thou changest not, thy compassions, they fail not;
as thou hast been thou forever will be.

Refrain:
Great is thy faithfulness! Great is thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see;
all I have needed thy hand hath provided;
great is thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!’

Megan is one of the very first bloggers that I met in the blogging world. She was so:

Gentle
Compassionate
Truthful
Understanding
Sensitive
Kind
Fiercely Optimistic
and Loving…

(These are many of the things that I struggle with on a daily basis. God used her blog, her love for others to truly sharpen and challenge me to be more understanding towards those who are struggling.)

Some of my favorite blog posts of hers are:

What I Hate About the Fitness Industry

My Love/Hate Relationship with Exercise

What To Do When You Feel Burnt Out

Why Your Ordinary Life Is Important

When You Are Afraid of the Future

To Someone Who Has Lost Their Joy

There are SO many more, and I hope you can go to Megan’s blog to smile at her logical, delightful look at real life, success, adulting, and her favorite books. This girl has been one of the biggest instruments and blessings in my recovery and life journey just in the past 1-2 years.

Philippians 1 makes me think of Megan. I thank God for Megan and her willingness to be vulnerable with her story about taking each step, away from an eating disorder and towards truly abundant life and hope in the Lord Jesus Christ.

I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy, For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now; Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ Even as it is meet for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart; inasmuch as both in my bonds, and in the defence and confirmation of the gospel, ye all are partakers of my grace. For God is my record, how greatly I long after you all in the bowels of Jesus Christ.’ (Philippians 1:3-8)

Megan and I chuckled together. We talked about life, recovery, food, exercise and finding joy in every day…. I know you will love it.
