Keneally, Musician- Multi-Instrumentalist, Vocalist, Songwriter, Arranger and Producer joins Bob to discuss how he is an acclaimed as a creative and ingenious guitarist/keyboardist, Mike Keneally’s talents as a vocalist, songwriter, arranger, producer and multi-instrumentalist are nearly unequalled in rock music.
Keneally has released 26 albums of his original music since 1992, and has built a body of work of remarkable inventiveness and originality. The most recent is 2016's Scambot 2/Inkling.
Keneally first came to prominence in Frank Zappa’s last touring band in 1988. During the 90s Mike began recording and touring his solo work, making the albums hat, Boil That Dust Speck and Sluggo! In 1999 he, along with Scott Chatfield, formed Exowax Recordings and began issuing a series of startlingly creative albums on a regular basis, while keeping up a steady stream of live gigs with his constantly evolving band, Beer For Dolphins.
Meanwhile he continued working with artists like Steve Vai, Dethklok, Screamin' Jay Hawkins, Mastodon, Robert Fripp, Andy Partridge of XTC, Henry Kaiser, Kevin Gilbert, Henry Kaiser, The Persuasions and countless others.
Since 2010 Keneally has been a constant touring and recording member of Joe Satriani's band, and is currently working on a collaborative album with Devin Townsend, along with a new secret band project featuring members of Umphrey's McGee and Zappa Plays Zappa.
