Transforming Prisons: The Prison Monastery Experience

In this episode of "Transforming Prisons," we delve into the groundbreaking concept of The Prison Monastery, where the penitentiary is reimagined as a place for contemplation, self-discovery, and contribution. Hosted by Cierra , we explore how this innovative approach aims to turn shame into meaningful societal contribution.

At the heart of The Prison Monastery is "The Art of Soulmaking" workbook, often referred to as a "monastery in a book." This workbook introduces contemplative practices, meditation, and yoga to incarcerated individuals, guiding them towards discovering their unique genius. By providing tools to channel pain and darkness into creativity, the program aims to empower participants to transform their lives.

Central to the success of The Prison Monastery is its vibrant community of over 300 penpal volunteers. These volunteers provide crucial support and companionship to individuals studying "The Art of Soulmaking," sharing in their journey of self-discovery and growth.

Currently operating in 408 facilities across the country, The Prison Monastery boasts an impressive 35,000 participants actively engaged in the program. Additionally, their Art of Addiction for Incarcerated program sheds new light on addiction, offering hope and healing to those struggling with substance abuse within the prison system.

Join us as we explore the transformative power of The Prison Monastery, where incarceration becomes an opportunity for inner exploration and societal contribution.
