On today's episode we sit down with my dawg and TDE’s very own behind the scenes legend, Matt Genius. Matt runs the entire merch operation at Top Dawg Entertainment which if you are not familiar houses some of today’s hop artists such as Kendrick Lamar, ScHoolboy Q, SZA, etc. etc. Matt has been working with them for years, perfecting the online shopping experience for fans, marketing options, and even tours with the artist. He just completed his largest job yet which was putting together a pop-up shop for Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN tour in the united states. They did pop up shops all over the country before a shit ton of shows and allowed fans to purchase rare merch. It was a huge success.
Matt is also a very talented artist, going under the name Matt Genius and just now began calling himself RIP MATT GENIUS which he explains the name in this episode. Matt and I met on the ScHoolboy Q Blank Face Tour and I was even on his podcast “Genius Frequencies” about a year ago if you want to check that out. Plan to hear some great stories like the time he toured with Kendrick and Kanye, and how every day he would leave his 9 to 5 to drive over an hour each way to the TDE house to intern. Matt is incredibly inspiring and very wise when it comes to music and marketing, you can plan to gain some good insight in this episode!
