The world of music lost one of the most creative challenging and influential forces this week David Robert Jones (David Bowie) and I will be paying my respects. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-35310890 Also Tonight- Not to Disappear by Daughter my Album of the Week (Out Jan 15) Daughter - the London-based trio of singer/guitarist Elena Tonra, guitarist/producer Igor Haefeli and drummer Remi Aguilella both release their second album Not to Disappear today and continue their tour (after three previously sold out gigs in November) tonight. Elena, Igor and Remi spent the summer in New York recording Not To Disappear with Nicolas Vernhes (Deerhunter, War On Drugs, Animal Collective) at his Rare Book Room studio in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. The first video, for the single 'Doing The Right Thing' can be viewed here - http://smarturl.it/DTRTVideo WATCH 'Numbers' (directed by Iain Forsyth & Jane Pollard) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-fD3PIRSO8 The second of a visual trilogy created by filmmakers Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard (behind the BAFTA-nominated Nick Cave feature film 20,000 Days on Earth), 'Numbers' takes its narrative from the short story 'Windows' - one of three works of fiction written by Stuart Evers and commissioned by Daughter. Talking about the Not To Disappear film trilogy, Iain & Jane comment, "We love this band and have worked with them since their first video. From their early demos coming out of the studio it was obvious they were setting the bar exceptionally high with the new album. So we wanted to take an ambitious approach to the videos, starting by commissioning three short stories by one of our favourite emerging authors, Stuart Evers. Then we adapted these into a trilogy of interwoven films, all shot on the Kent coast in one shoot. A different actor leads each one: Richard Syms, Natasha O'Keefe and Marama Corlett. Plus there's some sly references to Daughter's past for the eagle-eyed." http://ohdaughter.com/ NOT TO DISAPPEAR TOUR DATES January 15th - CAMBRIDGE, Corn Exchange 16th - OXFORD, O2 Academy 17th - BRIGHTON, Dome 18th - PORTSMOUTH, Pyramids Centre 20th - BIRMINGHAM, O2 Institute 21st - MANCHESTER, Albert Hall 22nd - LIVERPOOL, Academy 23rd - EDINBURGH, Queens Hall 25th - NEWCASTLE, O2 Academy 26th - LEEDS, Beckett University 27th - NOTTINGHAM, Rock City 28th - LONDON, O2 Forum SOLD OUT
