Within the one million square meter grounds, the Oscar Niemeyer-designed structures rise above the low buildings surrounding the complex - a sweeping arch, overlooking an outdoor theater, a massive dome, designed to be a convention center, an elevated concrete water tank, which was meant to have a panoramic restaurant situated on the top, there are 20,000 meter square of enclosed space and an additional 20,000 of open space adjacent to it. A total of 15 buildings make up the Fair, and all of them today remain empty, some still incomplete.
