172. John 17:6 With Jesus Behind The Veil-Part 6 Pastor Phil Ballmaier Calvary Chapel Elk Grove 2-27-22 Join Pastor Phil Ballmaier of Calvary Chapel Elk Grove as he works his way through the Gospel of John on Sunday Mornings. Today we continue in Chapter 17 in Part 6 of, "With Jesus Behind The Veil". As Pastor Phil points out, "Eternal life is not about what you do (to earn it)—but about Who you know (to receive it)!" John 17 is known as ‘the High Priestly prayer of Jesus.’ We see Jesus praying like no other time in history. First He prays for Himself (verses 1-5), for the Disciples (verses 6-19) and for us and all believers to come (verses 20-26). In today's verses He begins, "the hour has come..." The Cross was set before Him when man's redemption and God's plan and perfect timing would come together to redeem all men who would choose Him throughout time. So Pastor Phil challenged us all to ask, “How can I know I’m a true believer?” Jesus said, “Abide in Me, and I’ll abide in you.” So how can we know for sure? There will be evidence in our lives that we are His. “But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in Him. By this we know that we are in Him. He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.” 1 John 2:5-6 Obedience should be the evidence that we are truly walking with Him. It’s a work of The Spirit. We will keep His Word, and He will perfect it in us! He has begun a good work, and promises to complete it.
