When you think of this country’s pioneering riders in the Tour de France, you probably think of Steve Bauer and Alex Stieda. But 35 years ago, six Canadians—Marilyn Trout (née Wells), Kelly-Ann Way, Suzanne Lemieux, Hilary Brown (née Matte), Senta Bauermeister and Jacqueline Shaw—not only rode the Tour de France Féminin but distinguished themselves in that event. Trout, the group’s historian, looks back at the group’s accomplishments.
