Sometimes we can avoid it.
Other times we can't, people are really good liars.
Questions to help assess culture fit:
- Ask all the people you interview with why they like working for the company
- If you talk to people who will be on the team you'll be working on, ask them to describe the team dynamics
- Research
- Go through your network, do you know anyone who works / worked there?
- Make sure you get to meet/interview with the right people (future manager, peers, people you'll partner with, etc.)
- Know what culturally hasn't been a fit for you and ask professional questions around those specific items
- Don't be afraid to ask follow up questions to answers in number 6
- Peer question - what's on thing you would change in your role and why
