Today we are joined by Jon Foreman. Jon is the singer of the band Switchfoot, he makes amazing music on his own, and with other friends. He is simultaneously one of the most charismatic frontmen out there and also one of the nicest humans you'll ever meet.

In our conversation, I talked to Jon a bit about what performing has looked like for him historically and the way that it connects with his inner life, we discuss the reasons that Jon sings about death so often, and Jon references the work of an earlier guest of the podcast, James Carse, to explain how he thinks about competition in the arts.
