Utopias, Dystopias and the Future. Today’s Open Line—Friday slot offers a special EWTN Theology Roundtable show with EWTN’s vice-president of theology, Colin Donovan, who sits down with EWTN theology advisors Laura Dittus and Noah Lett to talk about the utopian and dystopian ideas in politics, economics, science and culture. Much of what makes up public discourse today is either utopian in its view of the world man can—or should—build, or despairing of being able to build any kind of a truly human future. Inherent in both perspectives is the absence of a place for man as he really is… and paradoxically, no place for God, either. Colin, Laura and Noah answer questions like: What do you say if you talk to someone who disagrees with your “facts?” Is the role of utopianism to throw idealism at a real problem, such as those I’ve heard say “we only need love,” in the face of recent terror attacks? How can the definition of “person” help society? Do you think the idea of a godly utopia has affected the way churches’ outer forms look… like how clerics dress for Mass? Are the Church’s statements on economics utopian? Is justice the way we show our love? Is war a mortal sin? Sit down with our theologians who answer these and other questions, right here, on EWTN Radio Open Line—and our special EWTN Theology Roundtable show.
