Happy Hour at the Center Line Soccer Radio roundtable lasted all of one week, as the San Jose Earthquakes followed up a promising win at Colorado with a setback at the league’s worst team, D.C. United. Sure, Chris Wondolowski, Steven Lenhart, and Victor Bernardez were all missing from the Quakes, but losing to a team that had only one win all season? Yes, embarrassing. Joe Nuxoll, Lyndsay Radnedge, and Robert Jonas were not missing for episode 15 of the roundtable, and they get the job done, embarrassingly perhaps, reviewing and previewing the Earthquakes. The California Clasico is next on the schedule, and with an almost full strength squad from which to choose his starting lineup, coach Mark Watson needs to find a way to get a victory against the LA Galaxy. A packed Stanford Stadium will want to see the Quakes start the second half of the MLS season on the right foot, so only a win will do. And for an after the match dessert? Just the largest fireworks show that California will see this year. It might be in Cardinal Country, but don the Black and Blue and cheer on the Earthquakes this Saturday — you’ll be glad you did!
