28 October 2018 - As All Saints Day approaches, Rev. David Pileggi spoke on why we should celebrate this Christian feast day and why we should remember the dead. Isn't this feast day Catholic? some may ask. The holy day started as a day to remember the martyrs in Roman times. We shouldn't fear death. We should take courage from the millions of faithful who have gone before us. When we or others ask if the Christian faith is real, if it's true, we can look at thousands of years of history that says yes. All Saints Day points to something much bigger than us, bigger than our reality. When we worship as a community, as worship together with those who stand around the throne, with all the company of heaven. Why do we remember those who have gone before us? It's not nostalgia. They are cheering us on in the marathon, calling us to endure. Readings: Isaiah 25:6-9, Revelation 7, Hebrews 12:1-3 & 18-29
