Two entertainment legends left us this past week as June Foray and Sam Shepherd both passed away. Then it’s lot of stupid and ignorant stuff from people who should know better, unfortunately. Tiffany Haddish says she’d let Bill Cosby drug her, The Breakfast Club gets deeply transphobic and violent, some lunatic stalked Kate Beckinsale across the country to potentially harm her, and more. Thankfully it’s not all bad, R-Kelly has cancelled dates because he’s a disgusting piece of garbage and can’t sell enough tickets. Also, Girls Trip continues to succeed and Zazie Bates looks awesome as Domino in Deadpool 2!

The movie for the week is shockmeister Takashi Miike’s bizarre comedy/musical/horror The Happiness of the Katakuris! The Katakuris put all the money they have left in the world into making a guesthouse in the shadow of Mt. Fuji. When a complete lack of customers starts to make them desperate they finally get their first guest, only for him to be found dead by suicide the next morning. Terrified that news of a death will curse their house forever they bury the body. Then more people come and more bad things happen! It’s based on a S.Korean film called The Quiet Family but while that film is a Coens-esque dark comedy, Katakuris is a surreal musical with dancing zombies, stop motion animation and bizarre characters. It’s great! It’s weird as heck! Next time our film is Zoolander 2 and God help us if we don’t survive. Love you all.
