A Clare cancer survivor claims a lack of access to health facilities and GP care during the pandemic prevented members of the public from receiving a potential cancer diagnosis. According to the Irish Cancer Society, one in ten expected cancers were not diagnosed in 2020, the equivalent of 2,600 people. In its submission to the Oireachtas Health Committee, the charity described the figures as reflecting "just one year of the pandemic". Ovarian Cancer survivor and Oncology Nurse with Sláinte an Chláir, Anne Murphy says it is essential that anyone who is now experiencing symptons presents to their GP as soon as possible.
