North Clare Town Looking To "Leave The Bats Behind" As Car Park Plans Progress

A local representative of a North Clare town says "it's time to leave the bats behind" and focus on delivering a much-needed car park for the area. Plans to demolish a number of derelict buildings on Monastery Lane in Ennistymon in order to build an off-street car park on the site have been held up for two years due to the presence of bats within the structures. The West Clare Municipal District has confirmed this week however that alternative accommodation for the bats has been identified and that demolition works will commence in the coming weeks. Ennistymon Fianna Fáil Councillor Shane Talty is confident that now the project is moving forward, locals and visitors alike will be able to avail of the additional car parking capacity in the near future.
