Hello and welcome to the CLN Podcast. Today I have a very special guest for you, the wonderful Woolly Wormhead. You will hear lots from your favourite designer on life and creativity, her favourite hats and a discussion on design and process.
We have a slightly longer podcast today at around 45 minutes, so it’s time for you to grab your notebook and knitting, get comfortable and settle in for a fun filled journey from hat design to raised bed building with tires. Come learn a little more about the person behind Woolly Wormhead and I’m sure you will leave excited and inspired to stash dive and knit some hats.http://www.cottagenotebook.ie/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/S1E3-CottageOnTourWithWoollyWormhead.mp3
You can also find the podcast on iTunes, Stitcher and Player FM. While your having a listen, why not leave a review and let us know what you think! You can catch up on previous episode of the podcast here
As you can tell from the interview, Woolly is one of my favourite designers and I’m very lucky to be in the position to have gotten to meet her a few times in the past. Her energy and passion for hat design and circles is infectious and it all comes wrapped up in a loving person and a fantastic quick wit. We chat about everything from photography to what the future holds and I’m guessing you will want to bookmark this page for future reference. Today’s episode comes from the ballroom in Powerscourt Townhouse, which is a podcastor’s nightmare but we powered through and I hope you enjoy today’s show.
Woolly and myself got to discuss her life in the artistic community, her DIY raised bed garden and tire hunting (yes! You will have to listen and see). I’m so lucky to have gotten to glean lots of useful information on how she sculpts her beds and it’s a side of Woolly that I’m delighted to share with all of you.
You all probably know how vast Woolly’s knowledge base is from math to sculpture, art and design to gardening and sustainability. As you listen to the podcast it’s hard not to get excited about all of her interests and hobbies, did you know she likes to dabble with silversmithing ?
Woolly also chats about her favourite patterns from Painted Woolly Toppers for Kids, her personal favourite hat pattern Tucked and she shares advice for people starting out. Finally, you can also find out what the future holds for Woolly as she discusses her mKAL . This is her 9th mystery knit along, can you believe it! This year the KAL focuses on 3 different hat patterns a beanie, beret and slouchy, all around one theme. You get to choose which you want to knit rather than having just one type of hat. The patterns are available as a beret and a beanie+slouchy combo or as an ebook for all three.
You can find Woolly Wormhead on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest and of course her Ravelry Group. Details of the Mystery KAL can be found here and the discussion group here. You can read more about website Woolly Wormhead and learn more about Woolly’s life on her blog here. A huge Thank You to Woolly for taking time out from her hectic schedule while in Dublin, we can not wait until you come back!
Music for the show has been provided by the very talented Liz Seaver. You can find more over on her website LizSeaver.com or on iTunes. I’m a huge fan and if your lucky enough to live in the Dublin area you can find her in Raffs on the Corner in Skerries when she hosts the Open Mic Nights. If not you can catch her over on Twitter and I’m sure she would be delighted to chat to you.
