We can't always choose our circumstances., and fate isn't something we have to blindly stumble into. Our attitude is the thing we can choose. Viktor Frankl lived this. An extremely short Frankl bio: He was an Austrian Neurologist and psychiatrist as well as a Holocaust survivor. His best-selling book was Man's Search for Meaning (published under a different title in 1959). Frankl's concentration camp experiences shaped both his therapeutic approach and philosophical outlook, as reflected in his seminal publications. Viktor Frankl Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way. Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom. When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.
