Religion is not the same as Christianity. Religion is about people earning God’s favor. But we all fail; we can’t keep all the rules. Christianity is about reconnecting with God and building a relationship. We see how Saul was not seeking a relationship with God, but was just trying to do what he had to avoid consequences from God.
